Baptism
Baptism is a gift—in fact, an ‘investment’ in eternal life. Eternal life begins with Baptism and it continues through death and has no end. Through the waters of Baptism Original Sin and personal sin are washed away, and we are initiated into the Church (1 Peter 2:9). Baptism is a source of identity and Christian dignity. Through the grace of this sacrament we are changed forever—we become a ‘new creation.’ We become adopted children of God, temples of the Holy Spirit, and are given a share in the divine life of Jesus Christ. In Baptism, we are united with him and incorporated into his redemptive death on the Cross—freeing us from Original Sin and all personal sins—and causing us to rise with him to a life without end.
