Marriage
In Christian marriage, the spouses model the love and self-gift of Christ. By giving of themselves and serving one another, their family, and community, married couples help one another live out Christ’s call to discipleship, love, and service. Marriage provides a foundation for a family committed to community, solidarity, and Jesus’ mission in the world.
Marriage is a covenant by which a man and woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole life. The term “covenant” helps us to understand the biblical and personal aspects of a love relationship that reaches beyond the legal or civil aspects of the “marriage contract.” By their marriage, the couple witnesses Christ’s spousal love for the Church. We look to the married couple as a sacrament—a sign to the world of God’s love.
Wedding celebrations are scheduled a minimum of six months in advance. For information, contact the Parish Office at 562-438-3826.
